This Ramadan Build A School

Those who spend their wealth night and day, secretly and openly, they have their reward with their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve. (Qur’aan, Al-Baqarah : 274)

In the UK we know that education is a right for all children regardless their economic situation and yet across the world, 67 million children, particularly girls, are not enrolled in school. This Ramadan Innocent Child want to give more young boys and girls in Africa an opportunity to learn by building our second school in the foothills of Kilimanjaro. The new school in Tanzania will be managed by the committee at the Mosque next door and will provide both secular and Islamic education, including the memorisation of the Quran.

Together this Ramadan we can start to build this new school. It will cost us £25,000 to build and the ongoing costs are £400 per month, which includes the cost of teachers and education materials. Please support us to change the lives of children in this village.

Innocent Child knows that to keep children in poor communities in education we also have to address the reasons why children are not in school. Often the poorest families force children into employment at a young age rather than education to boost their income. To ensure children at Innocent Child School’s stay in school we give the poorest families a small allowance as long as they continue to attend. We also aim to build our schools in some of the hardest to reach places which are often over an hour’s walk from the nearest alternative school to encourage students.

Experience has shown us that the education is the cornerstone of every community and those who are educated have a better chance of survival. In particular, Innocent Child focuses on the lack of education for girls and we ensure that every school we build has an equal number of female and male students. In fact, one of our schools also has an evening class for 30 women too. We know that our schools are making a long-term difference in these communities and the children’s future.

Islamic Giving

No one has ever become poor by giving

If the money we donate helps one child or can ease the pain of one parent, those funds are well spent. It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.
